PROSPEROUS JOINT VENTURE PARTNERSHIP

CASE STUDY

Fairmile Village, Christchurch Hospital

Quantum Group and the The Royal Bournemouth and Christchurch Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, entered into a Joint Venture Partnership to build an 80-bedroom care home and develop 35 residential units, on the site of the Christchurch Hospital campus.

Prior to Quantum’s involvement, the planning application at Christchurch Hospital faced hundreds of local objections and was initially refused by the Local Authority.

Quantum proactively engaged with the local community to listen and understand all of their concerns and needs. As designer, builder and operator of care homes, Quantum was able to design a new, more sympathetic, scheme focused on delivering benefits and value for all parties.

The campaign attracted the support of the entire local community and detailed planning consent was granted for an 80-bed care home and 35 assisted living apartments, within months of the original refusal.

The value created from this unique partnership also delivers a range of new and improved hospital services and facilities, including a new GP surgery and hospital pharmacy, to secure a sustainable new future for Christchurch Hospital.

  • Land and equity provided by NHS Trust
  • Planning and development funded by Quantum Group and partners
  • Low-risk development from aligning interests
  • Wider community benefits created

“With constrained budgets and increasing demands on services our challenge was to find new ways of utilising our assets.

Quantum helped us to conceive and deliver an innovative solution at half the cost we could have achieved by ourselves.

Together, we have secured a healthy future for Christchurch Hospital.”
