PIONEERING PLANNING SUCCESS

CASE STUDY

East Cliff, Bournemouth

A far reaching vision to regenerate Bournemouth’s East Cliff – one of the finest pieces of real estate on the south coast of England.

Quantum acquired three hotels out of administration and undertook a viability exercise to demonstrate how a mixed-use hotel and residential scheme could regenerate the area, bringing benefits to the Bournemouth community and creating sustainable long-term value for the Borough.

Quantum’s first milestone was to refurbish and rebrand the three hotels; transforming previously failing businesses into some of the best-known hotels in the local area.

Alongside this, Quantum’s community engagement campaign generated a mass of local support for redevelopment and helped to inform the design of the scheme.

The wide boulevard walkways, landscaped gardens and spectacular sea views offer the perfect location for retirement living and prestigious business facilities.

The design and architecture is sensitive to both Bournemouth’s heritage and the conservation area location – these three beautiful, sleek and light reflective buildings are set to become the iconic landmark of Bournemouth’s East Cliff.

Planning consent was granted to consolidate the three existing hotels and create a new retirement, leisure and business community – 121 assisted living apartments and a new luxury 90 bed hotel with extensive conference facilities.

  • First hotel to be granted planning consent in this location for a century
  • First mixed-use residential, leisure and business community for Bournemouth’s East Cliff
  • Innovative design has gained national and international recognition
  • Major boost to Bournemouth’s economy: new homes, new business, new jobs
