Planning approval for Quantock House in Taunton

Quantum has successfully gained planning consent to develop a retirement community on the site of the former DEFRA Building known as Quantock House in Paul Street, Taunton.

Quantum acquired the site in 2015 and since then has worked hard to design and deliver detailed plans to build a 62 bedroom care home and 51 extra care apartments with 11,465 sq. ft. of ground floor and retail space for all the community to enjoy.

Taunton Deane Borough Council granted planning permission at their planning committee meeting on Wednesday 1st February 2017.

Quantock House, a disused 1960s office block will be demolished floor by floor, due to the close proximity of residents and businesses to make way for the new development, which will include beautifully designed landscaping, public and private gardens and walkways surrounded by green frontage.

The scheme’s approval follows months of direct consultation including public exhibitions with local residents, businesses, key stakeholders and Taunton Deane Borough Council with Quantum’s community engagement and planning teams.

Quantum will be setting up a Construction Liaison Group with local residents and businesses in Taunton to communicate the plans and progress and to address any concerns that may arise during construction.
